Buying As-Is Items / 3 Strikes Rule
Commonly pre-loved items are As-IS. All items are sold AS-IS or “as seen”.
It’s ok to buy items that are in AS-IS condition. We just want the item to be wearable right away.
We also don’t want to have an entire shop full of damaged goods. That’s not what we want to be known for.
If an item is in a sellable/ wearable condition but has slight issues, the retail price should be between 10%-20% lower than what is listed on Price Matrix.
If the item is not currently in a wearable state (stain on chest or elastic busted etc) and will require some work on our behalf, but it is still worth adding to the collection, the retail price must be significantly lower than what is listed on the Price Matrix. Like anywhere between 30%-50% lower than what you might normally price it. There is a chance that it cannot be salvaged.
The purpose of marking an item AS-IS on the tag is to inform the STAFF that the item’s AS-IS condition was considered when pricing below market value. This way if a customer mentions the issue the sales person knows it was already considered into the price before offering an additional discount.
3 Strikes Rule:
If an item has 3 or more conditional issues please don’t buy unless the item is incredibly rare and worth sending to a professional for $20 or more additional dollars.
Get a second opinion.
Ie, missing a button, overall wear, a rip in the armpit = 3 strikes.
Also please note that removing stains from cotton or silk is VERY difficult and time consuming.
